Auto Aircon Repair & Diagnosis

We carry out auto aircon repairs at our workshop or we can come to you!

Before we undertake any auto aircon repairs, we provide an accurate quote. If you approve the quote, we will proceed with the repair work. Whether you need re-gassing or a compressor rebuild – we can help! The photo shows a re-gassing procedure which we completed at our workshop.

Most auto aircon repairs are best done in our workshop where diagnostic and repair equipment is readily available. Air conditioning parts are unique to each vehicle. We can easily source the right part for your vehicle A/C.

There are three main parts to an auto air conditioning system:

  • The compressor
  • The condenser
  • The evaporator

These parts are connected by tubes and hoses to form a circulation system which distributes refrigerant in either a liquid or gas vapour form inside your vehicles air conditioning unit.

The compressor is the pump mechanism that pressurises and drives the refrigerant around the system. It is powered by a drive belt connected to the vehicle crankshaft and  pumps out pressurised refrigerant to the condenser.

The condenser then changes the refrigerant vapour into liquid. The liquid then moves to a storage tank or receiver-drier. The refrigerant is circulated from the receiver-drier to the thermo expansion valve. This valve processes the liquid refrigerant so that it expands into refrigerant vapour in the evaporator.

The evaporator inside the vehicle absorbs heat from inside the vehicle as the cold refrigerant is released into the evaporator. As the heat is absorbed, cool air is blown into the vehicle by the blower fan.

So you can see how important a properly functioning compressor is to your auto air conditioning. A damaged compressor, if unattended, could lead to other A/C component damage. We specialise in auto aircon compressor rebuilds.
